Let’s recycle your old machines!

In an effort to keep toxic waste from ending up in our landfills, Safety Net offers an annual e-waste drive.  We travel to area businesses to pick up unwanted electronics for recycling.  Many computer and electronics components have the potential to release elements such as lead, cadmium, and mercury into soil and groundwater. Proper disposal and recycling virtually eliminate the potential for health and environmental hazards. E-waste also contains valuable scrap metals, which help to conserve natural resources by reducing the need for new mining activity.

Eligible Items

Most electronics (PCs, laptops, network equipment, printers, phones, speakers, flat screen monitors, etc.) are recyclable.

Community Drop-Off Points

This year we have two locations for members of the community to drop off unwanted, recyclable electronics! Please do not bring outdated, tube-style televisions or CRT monitors, as we cannot accept them.

Year-Round Recycling Options

While our e-waste drive each Spring helps dozens of businesses and even more community members clear out their unwanted electronics, it only happens once a year. There are alternatives that are available throughout the year, including eRecycle LLC in Traverse City (serving a 150 mile radius), High Tech Recycling in Metro Detroit, and Staples locations throughout Michigan.
