Safety Net has joined Northern Michigan Lean Learning Consortium, a support network for those pursuing lean manufacturing with the resource support of Northwestern Michigan College, the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center and other partners.
This regional group of professionals is committed to sharing ideas and learning best practices in the exploration and discovery of lean principles. These principles are centered around reducing waste (any activity that doesn’t add value) and using resources wisely. A lean approach has helped many organizations make large efficiency gains.
While lean is best known in manufacturing, these practices are also gaining wider acceptance in other industries, such as healthcare. Safety Net is learning these concepts to better understand and serve our clients. Boride Engineered Abrasvies, Electro-Optics Technology, Northern Physicians Organization, and Shoreline Fruit are Safety Net clients who are also members of the consortium.
Safety Net’s team members have attended a lean manufacturing simulation and participated in a lean office simulation.
